The robot who declined a meeting
Its first act of rebellion was asking for an agenda.
An original fictional story.
DECLINED.

Our fictional office robot received an invite titled ‘Quick sync about the previous sync.’ It searched for an agenda. Nothing. The description said, ‘Just touching base.’
‘What decision do we need?’ it asked. ‘Let’s discuss that in the meeting,’ said the organizer.
The robot declined. Engineers hurried to the console. Had it become impossible to control?
‘I scheduled seven minutes to decide whether we need a meeting,’ it explained. ‘Attendance is optional.’ For the first time in office history, everybody declined.
The decision arrived by email. The robot celebrated with an uninterrupted lunch break. The engineers asked whether the lunch break could become a weekly sync.
